The physicians at Denver Heart are very interested in and active in participating in research studies. Here is a list of the current studies in which our practice is presently involved in.

Study: AMPLATZER PFO Occluder: A single-arm, multi-center post-approval clinical study

Sponsor: Abbott/St. Jude Medical
Principal Investigator: Dr. Michael Wahl
Sub Investigator: Dr. Sameer Mehta

This study is enrolling patients who have had a recent stroke of unknown cause, who have a Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO or hole in their heart), and who may benefit from having their PFO closed to reduce their risk of having additional strokes.

Study: ULTRASCORE: A prospective, multi-center, single-arm, real-world study assessing the clinical use of the Bard UltraScore Focused Force PTA Balloon

This study is actively enrolling for patients who have peripheral arterial disease and are undergoing an angiogram of their lower extremities.

Study: CHAMP-HF: An observational registry of treatment patterns in U.S. heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction

Sponsor: Novartis
Principal Investigator: Dr. Sameer Mehta

This study is following patients with heart failure over a 2 year time period. There are several publications that have been released from Novartis on the effectiveness of Entresto, based on the results of this study.

Study: LIBERTY 360: Prospective, observational, multi-center clinical study to evaluate acute and long term clinical and economic outcomes of Endovascular Device Intervention in patients with distal outflow Peripheral Arterial Disease

This study is following patients with peripheral arterial disease for a 5 year time period. CSI has released information on benefits of endovascular intervention in patients with critical limb ischemia based on information from this study.
